our dna
Our name “Alanine” pronounced “al-uh-nine” (A9 for short) is a synthesis of terms for the Amino Acid by the same name pronounced “al-uh-neen” and the 1969 Apollo-9 mission.
The Chemical Component:
The amino acid Alanine is essential for endurance and strength. It is created naturally by the human body. All of us create it through strenuous activity. When you are pushing yourself physically you are creating Alanine. It is found readily in red meat and also one of the oldest understood amino acids.
The Space Mission:
The Apollo-9 mission was critical in the history of the Apollo mission series that eventually lead to the landing on the moon. During this mission all of the major engineering innovations where tested. The lunar module, space suits, major docking, landing, and safety systems were tested. It was a complete success. Also the mission showcased the engineering prowess of that more idealistic time when we reached for the skies.Putting it all together:
From these two ideas we created the genesis of our brand: internal strength and the support of engineering prowess. Risk taking and personal growth. We are about challenging ourselves, and pushing the machines we have created. Our slogan “test tomorrow” embodies this. We are striving to find the fastest lap time, the most enjoyable back road. For some of us we test tomorrow through innovation. Others through testing the limits of themselves. You may be taking a risk to survive another day, or creating something that is ahead of its time. Perhaps both.
Our Founders:
At Alanine we are all about facilitating speed. Our founders are transportation designers and enthusiasts driven by a desire to break away from the humdrum and identify with people who love driving. We have wrenched bolts, sculpted clay, and dreamed about machines.
If you are one part engineer, one part designer, and one part secret agent then our products are for you.
